07 Nov We Are In The Mainstream Media – Day 7 of COP26
The Guardian, The New York Times, Wrote About Us
We made it. The Guardian wrote about us:
“Vegan activists fought strong gales to make their point with four giant inflatable animals tethered on ropes above their heads or strapped to the ground. Each symbolised a different problem with the livestock industry: a cow for methane, a chicken for Covid and health, a fish for microplastics, and a pig for obesity. “The cow in the room is being ignored at this Cop,” said Carl Le Blond of Climate Healers. “Animal agriculture has been taken off the agenda and put on the menu.”
The New York Times wrote about us:
“Elsewhere, vegan activists carried balloons of a cow and a chicken with the message, “Thank you for not eating us.”
Sky News posted that “every disaster movie starts with ignoring a scientist,” with our photo below it.
We braved gale force winds. We withstood biting cold. We were drenched in pouring rain. We got battered and bruised. I lost a teat in my udder. Obe the Pig had to be patched up thrice. Microft the fish had to be patched up four times. Only Flo the chicken made it through without emergency care.
But we made it to the mainstream media. Jamen Shively sang love songs to us all day long. Tens of thousands took selfies with us as they marched by. Dozens of people held us down and took care of us as we were buffeted around. Jonathan Watts of The Guardian came by. He interviewed Sailesh and Carl and posted about it. We had a big banner in front: “See You. Why Don’t You See Me? – The Cow in the Room.”
The sun shone through at the end. I saw a beautiful rainbow in front of us. I’m here. I’ll be here until kingdom come. They can no longer ignore me.
The animal farming monstrosity is #thecowintheroom. It is time to address it.
Be a superhero. Join my herd. Let’s start a moovement together.
Yours faithfully,
Vega, Cow and Climate Healer
