28 Nov Joe Biden’s Reply Saddens Me…
Please stop rounding up wild horses and killing them…
Hello there,
I finally heard back from President Joe Biden. He replied to my letter, but I think that he never actually read it. Either that or he can’t read anymore.
As you know, I had written about why eating animals is one of the leading causes of climate change and why his Global Methane pledge is grossly inadequate.
He replied about all the good-paying union jobs he is creating in the energy sector through his American Jobs plan. He sent me a word salad form letter with his climate change talking points. It had nothing to do with the contents of my letter.
It saddens me. I feel as if the views of us animals don’t matter to the so-called leader of the human world. But it is time that he stopped ignoring me, the Cow in the Room. It is time he takes the views of all us animals seriously.
After all, animals have fed and supported you humans for thousands of years through the lean times. Without our help, you humans would not have survived in the cold, harsh climates of North America, Europe and North Asia.
Dogs lent you their sense of smell and hearing so that you didn’t get trampled by herds of mastodons or eaten out by saber-toothed tigers. During the Holocene era, we cows grazed on land, emitted methane and heated up the Earth so that it can never go back to another ice age again. Pigs, chickens, sheep, goats and cows, we all sacrificed our bodies so that you may thrive. Therefore, what you are calling the “Anthropocene era” should rightly be called the Animathropocene era, no? We cows even nursed you with milk to the point where you can now stand up on your own two wobbly feet.
We cows have been your surrogate mothers for tens of thousands of years. Now, we say, “No moo milk for you!’ It is time you wean yourselves from your dependence on us animals. It is the only way out of the predicament we find ourselves in.
Joe Biden fails to see it. He has ordered the rounding up and killing of wild horses on public land so that ranchers can raise more cows.
How smart is that?
Though I have just four hooves, I have done the math on this better than most human scientists with their full complement of digits, ten fingers and ten toes. Most scientists seem to get their fingers and toes all tangled up when they are calculating the impact of the Killing Machine that is destroying our planet.
As Sailesh pointed out in this UN Press Conference video (a big moo out to Julie Griffin for her awesome editing work!), it is common sense that a Killing machine that is killing 88 billion land animals and 1-3 trillion sea animals each year has a lot to do with the planet dying around us. But common sense appears to be in short supply amongst you, humans.
Please stop eating us animals and take climate change seriously. Your burger munching, climate heating days are over. It is time for all of you to become Climate Healers.
Be a superhero. Join my herd. Let’s grow our moovement together.
Yours faithfully,
Vega, Cow and Climate Healer
A huge Cow Lick to Wayne Hsiung, the co-founder of Direct Action Everywhere, who rescued a sick baby goat, Rain, and is being charged with two counts of felony and facing three years in a North Carolina prison for this “offense”. Here’s wishing that reason prevails and Wayne’s courageous actions are celebrated and not punished.
And naturally, I’m dumping a huge Cow Patty on President Joe Biden to stop him from rounding up wild horses on public lands and killing them. May this smelly patty landing on his head jolt him awake to rescind these deep-seated policies that are destroying the planet.
