01 Sep The Planet B Chronicles: 1. The Founding of a Vegan World
“Ask not how much money you can make from Veganism. Ask how much money you can give to Veganism” – Brittany Bunk.
Dear Climate Healers Family,
PETA announced that the University of Massachusetts (U Mass) in Amherst will finally stop their scientific experimentation on marmosets to study menopause, a condition the small monkeys do not experience. It took years of effort, with over 160,000 emails sent to the National Institutes of Health and 1.3 million messages sent to U Mass, to stop these atrocious and useless animal experiments in just one laboratory.
There are millions of such laboratories in the world today.
In other news, Eleven Madison Park in New York City will start including animals on the menu. Succumbing to economic pressures, the first and only Michelin 3-star rated Vegan restaurant in the world will start serving meat, fish, duck, lobsters and oysters as of October 14th, 2025.
The Herculean effort needed to shut down just one animal experimentation laboratory and the backsliding of Chef Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park shows that Planet A is difficult, if not impossible to fix. We believe that living systems on Planet A are fundamentally intractable, and that it is best to hit the reset button and reboot onto Planet B with a different operating system.
At its heart, Veganism is a social justice movement for eradicating the exploitation of animals, people and indeed, the planet itself. It is the fastest growing social justice movement in the world and it is the foundation of Planet B.
Vegans are the Superheroes who have busted through the nutritional myths and the addiction traps that the meat and dairy industry and its political accomplices had laid down for all people, including little children, on Planet A.
The Planet B narrative is that we need to start over and adopt new health-centric, circular, regenerative systems to replace disease-centric, linear, extractive systems on Planet A.
The Vegan movement is at the forefront of this necessary transformation that our planet desperately needs. The scientific evidence shows that a Vegan world would mitigate all seven planetary boundary transgressions and facilitate in meeting all the UN Sustainable Development Goals with the exception of the redundant SDG #8 (Economic Growth).
The question is how do we achieve this necessary system transformation as soon as possible? In a technical paper that the Planetary Health Alliance will be publishing in a MDPI Special Issue on Challenges, we have formulated a new operating system for Planet B and a transition plan for switching from Planet A to Planet B.
I will be writing about this in layman’s terms in daily newsletters, starting today.
Meanwhile, we are calling on Vegans to join us in Toronto for the Vegan Convergence Of the Peoples #23 (V-COP23) on Nov 1-2 to help shape and implement this plan. The theme for V-COP23 is offered by our co-host, Plant Based Treaty: Redirect, Relinquish, Restore, but we will be using a more holistic interpretation:
Redirect our focus from fixing Planet A to building Planet B.
Relinquish the excess resources we have taken from the planet.
Restore the life-support systems of the planet with the relinquished resources.
Please join us in Toronto to be the founding parents of a Vegan World (Planet B). Please hurry, because we are closing in-person attendance after the first 100 registrants.
With much love,
Let’s work together, and work fast, or by 2026 it will be too late. The damage done will be irreversible. We can do it.
